The late Rao Bahadur A.K. Pai., Member of MCGM school committee, in November 1926, at the school committee meeting, sent a notice to the sub-committee on the need for a bank to be a co-operative credit society or bank for the teachers and school committee employees of the municipality. Committees were registered under the name of Co-op Credit Society. The Bank's main office has been functioning in the Mumbai district of the same building since its inception in December 1932, when the actual work was started on the floor of the Gildar Tank, Municipal Building, Grant Road, Mumbai by two part-time clerks.
